No less than one person have been confirm dead and two others injured in Kara Bridge along Lagos/Ibadan road, the Director General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed to Fire Fighters Magazine bureau chief.
Olufemi said trucks were crash at the kara bridge along the Lagos/Ibadan road resulting to a fire outbreak, because of the content some of the trucks were carrying that were involve in the crash.
The fire incident started at about 11:25 pm on Saturday, June 20 and ongoing effort are being made by the LASEMA personnel and officers and men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue services in trying to put out the fire as at the time of filing this report.
One person have been confirm dead, and two others were injured in the fire incident involving two Fuel Tankers, one Gas Truck, and a Tipper on Kara Bridge, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
According to eye witness at the scene of the incident, Mr Olaleye said the fire incident started at about 11:25 pm on Saturday, June 20 when the fuel tanker collided into the kara-bridge.
In a similar statement issued by Dr Olufemi further revealed that the LASEMA personnel recovered charred bones from the site of the incident.
“We have concluded that four trucks are being ravaged by the fire comprising of,
two asset trucks laden with 33,000 litres of premium motor spirit(petrol) each, a single fuel tanker truck laden natural gas a tipper truck were involved in the crash’.
Effort are ongoing to extinguish the fire with the combined efforts of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Services, LRU fire and other stakeholders (UBA Fire, Julius Berger Fire team) due to the magnitude of the inferno.
“We have rescued two persons alive, one with minor injuries and two fatalities, with one body intact and charred bones which will be sent for pathology.
“Recovery operation has been concluded and we hope that traffic flow should ease.”
